Details:
* WHAT...Dangerously cold wind chills ("feels like") as low as zero
degrees fahrenheit expected.

* WHERE...Western and Central Columbia River Gorge, the Corbett area
and the Hood River Valley.

* WHEN...For the Extreme Cold Warning, until noon PST today. For the
Cold Weather Advisory, from noon today to noon PST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Frostbite and hypothermia will occur if unprotected skin
is exposed to these temperatures.

Information:
Hypothermia, cooling of the internal body temperature, occurs
quickly and is often unnoticed by the victim until it is too late.
Exposed skin can suffer from frostbite very quickly at these
temperatures. If you must venture outdoors, make sure to dress
properly for extreme cold. Multiple layers of clothing including
outdoor jackets and pants are the best way to stay warm during
extreme cold, helping to prevent frostbite and/or hypothermia. These
items include: hat, gloves, winter jacket, face mask, thicker socks,
and cold weather footwear. Hand and foot warmers are also
recommended.

* WHAT...Mixed precipitation expected. Total snow accumulations
between 2 and 4 inches and ice accumulations around one tenth of
an inch. Winds gusting as high as 60 mph.

* WHERE...Western and Central Columbia River Gorge, the Corbett area
and the Hood River Valley.

* WHEN...Until 10 PM PST Friday.

* IMPACTS...Roads, and especially bridges and overpasses, will
likely become slick and hazardous.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Due to areas of freezing rain, power outages
are possible.

Information:
Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while
driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken
on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and
slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.

Have a winter emergency driving kit readily available. Common items
to include: flashlight, batteries, blankets, a shovel, water,
non-perishable food items, tire chains, etc.

Be aware that walking surfaces may be slick. Walk with extra care.
